Hino Motors has sold more than 15,000 Hybrid commercial vehicles worldwide. The new generation Hino 300 Series Hybrid features the world’s first Hybrid diesel engine designed exclusively for a commercial vehicle, delivering cleaner, more efficient transport solutions.
Since its local launch in 2007, the Hino Hybrid range of trucks has been the clear market leader in Hybrid commercial vehicle sales in Australia.
Lower exhaust emissions mean cleaner air. By employing a diesel electric Hybrid system, using an auxiliary electric motor that is emission-free, the Hino Hybrid drive system significantly reduces exhaust tailpipe emissions when compared to a conventional diesel-engined truck.
Compared to a conventional truck the Hino Hybrid emits significantly reduced emissions of:
The Hino Hybrid has the additional benefits of:
Hybrid motoring is engineered to combine the power and torque benefits of a traditional internal combustion engine, with the fuel-saving and zero emissions properties of an electric motor.
As a result, the Hino 300 Hybrid can reduce emissions by up to 25 per cent – meaning it easily meets Euro 5 and Enhanced Environmentally-Friendly Vehicle (EEV) emissions.
The hybrid system combines Hino’s 4.0-litre common-rail turbo-diesel engine (110kW rating) with an electric motor capable of producing an 36kW, a forceful 333Nm of torque from idle.
By combining the inherently powerful, yet fuel efficient turbo-diesel engine with the torque-heavy, zero emissions electric motor, the hybrid is able to achieve remarkable fuel consumption.
All Hino hybrid 300 series trucks use a nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery for their hybrid driveline systems. The majority of hybrid vehicles in the world today use NiMH batteries, and worldwide the same Toyota Group battery technology has been used in over 3 million Hybrid vehicles.
Hino’s nickel-metal hydride battery has the advantages of:
The hybrid battery is covered by a Hino factory warranty for 5 years or 160,000km.
The Hino Hybrid 300 Series has no clutch pedal. The ProShift 5 automated manual transmission employs an electronic control unit to control the changing of gears and operation of the clutch.
When driven in the Drive (D) mode, the vehicle can be driven like a conventional automatic-transmission truck (easy two-pedal operation). In this mode gear changes are executed in accordance with driving conditions and hybrid system mode settings.
The operation of the hybrid drivetrain is optimised in this mode, contributing to significant fuel consumption savings.
Drivers may also select S (Sequential) mode, should they wish to select gears manually to suit their driving style, or to hold gears in circumstances such as long steep descents (requires low gear selection).
Hino’s ProShift AMT has been designed so that it is easy to drive, requires low maintenance, and provides long service life.
The new Hino 300 Series cabin has been equipped with clear-to-read instruments and easy-to-reach controls and switchgear, providing passenger car levels of drivability and safety.
All Hino trucks are ergonomically designed to provide a functional cabin, with fingertip controls and column stalks positioned so that the driver has no need to take their hands off the wheel at any time.
All 300 Series variants are equipped with class-leading Optitron instruments, which can be read from all angles and in all lighting conditions. Every model is equipped with a tachometer, speedometer, and full suite of warning gauges and lights. The dash features blank DIN mounting slots (for additional radio equipment) and there are a number of switch mounting holes to cater for accessories that may be added.
All models have factory-fitted Denso air conditioning, remote central locking with an integrated engine immobiliser, and power-operated windows and mirrors. Crew Cabin models feature an auxiliary rear air conditioner unit - the only light truck in Australia with these combined features.
All manual 300 Series models have Hino’s ES (Easy Start) hill-start assist, which can be switched off using a dash mounted switch.
New Hino 300 Series wide cab models are fitted with an ergonomically designed fully-adjustable driver's seat for maximum comfort.
The seat runners are positioned on an incline to better cater for short and taller drivers (a first for any light-duty truck), placing the seat in a better relative position to the trucks pedals.
All wide cabin models have a driver's suspension seat with torsion-bar suspension and magnetic dampening as standard equipment, further improving driver comfort, but also reducing fatigue over longer distances.
Hino's seat design provides maximum driver comfort for all road conditions; from smooth roads through to heavily corrugated surfaces.
As a genuine Hino service centre, Northpoint Hino provide approved service personnel who are specifically trained to work on and understand Hino products, making them the ideal place for all warranty work and regular services.
